WHAT IS IT?

The Circle of Health is an initiative created by the Fundación Pro CNIC in Spain for the day-to-day promotion of your cardiovascular health. The mobile app is led by Dr. Valentín Fuster, a global leader in the field of cardiology for four decades who is the General Director of the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares [National Center of Cardiovascular Research] (CNIC), Director of Mount Sinai Heart and Physician-in-Chief of The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of mortality in the world. Therefore, it is critical to acquire and maintain heart healthy habits. Using this mobile app, you will learn about the six modifiable risk factors directly from Dr. Fuster that can lead to heart and blood vessel problems, and it will give you clues about how to modify them to live a healthier life.

The app’s circular interface and multimedia content (video, audio and graphics) facilitate user’s navigation with ease and provide an interactive experience.

WHAT ARE ITS CAPABILITIES?

The Circle of Health has the following functions:

Evaluation: This app has a questionnaire that will allow you to assess and measure your cardiovascular health. Using a series of questions about your physical activity, cholesterol, glucose, use of tobacco, etc., it will identify the risk factors that you should be aware of to avoid health problems.

Information: This section explains the principal characteristics of the six modifiable cardiovascular risk factors (obesity, high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, consumption of tobacco, lack of physical exercise) and it gives you pointers on how to prevent them.

Motivation: To establish good habits and abandon those that can cause us health problems, we must be motivated. In this section, you’ll be able to learn about the different elements that impact your motivation, both at a mental, as well as, a social level.

Challenges: Along with informing you, the app will help to get you started on the path to better health providing you with a series of weekly and monthly challenges to improve your health.


WHO IS IT FOR?

This mobile app is directed at adults that are concerned with their health and want to improve their habits related to their diet, physical activity, or use of tobacco (among others). It is a very useful tool for those that have or have had any disease related to the heart or blood vessels (arteries or veins); as it will help them to better understand these issues.
